I had the opportunity to read Watiting-A Nonbeliever’s Higher Power by Marya Hornbacher. This book goes into a spiritual detail in the seasons of life. We are all in different seasons of life and this book provides a step by step process. This is a great book! Marya again, brings her insight, knowledge and sharing her own experiences to this book. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as we well as creating this post for this review. I’m going to list my favorite points of this book. Marya states it right from her heart and states the facts as they are. You may not be going though addiction but this is a great book to read that does takes us on that spiritual journey one step at time and one month at a time. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have!
January talks about Despair
Marya Hornbacher states “Our lives are split into parts; we run from the past, we fear the future, we cannot live in the present we have created for ourselves”.
February talks about Doubt
Marya Hornbacher states “Eventually we must face our own fears and doubts, listen to our own resistant to trust, and learn from that resistance, opening ourselves to the possibility of moving beyond it.”
March talks about Letting Go
It’s not as easy to do when you hear people say “Let go” or even if you read it “Let Go”. You must have a strong will power in order to get through this stage that your at. You must not resist this change that will take you to the next stage.
April talks about Self-Knowledge
Marya Hornbacher states “The reason for this self-examination is to reconnect us with the spiritual wisdom we contain and ultimately, to connect us with the world” This takes us to evaluate our spiritual belief’s. Receive it and accept in your ability to just believe in the person you can be. It’s now time to begin anew in your journey on the right path.
May talks about Reaching Out
One we end the self-examination, spiritual knowledge and development it’s then to now reach out. Reach out to family and friends knowing without feeling guilt without shame as we go through this stage. Marya Hornbacher states “The silence and loneliness of secrets shame and lies creates a state of existential despair and unable to face ourselves”. It’s important to stop hiding and let the light shine upon your face. Don’t let the mirror in front of you discourage you to look. Your better than that!
June and July talks about The Moral Self/Early Summer
Marya Hornbacher states “A moment of spiritual lushness and vitality comes as we become more aware of both or spirits and the spiritual lives and needs of others” Season’s change and the leaves on the tree’s change to a variety of colors. We too thrive to live with gusto to start with strength in order to have the will to start changing.
August and September talks about Healing/Harvest
Marya Hornbacher states “My spiritual voice speaks clearest when I’m at peace, it is a peace with myself, with others and with what I am doing in my life each day”. Be at peace with yourself. You’ve now reached a new level of healing. This is great! It also states “The Promises conclude, “We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves”.
October talks about Spiritual Practice
Marya Hornbacher states “A spiritual practice here and now keeps our lives in balance with others, helps us maintain our own serenity and restores our spirit so we have more to give in this world”. We’re now more aware of our spirituality. Marya also states “An active practice of self-examination, of daily inventory, keeps us ever mindful of our impact of the world”.
November talks about Spiritual Growth
Marya Hornbacher states “As the cycle of the year comes to a close, and therefore nears new beginnings, we are drawn inward once again to the pace where we can move more deeply into spiritual growth”. The year come’s to an end, that in fact is true. However, the new year brings new promises in our spiritual growth.
December talks about Spiritual Action in the World
Marya Hornbacher states “This is where we learn the practice of spiritual action in the world, giving away when we most want to cling, offering up what has been offered to us, reaching beyond the desire to meet our own hungers and needs to meet the greater needs and hungers of the world”. This is the last step. It’s time to be opened minded in continuing your growth and knowledge.
I’ve read several of Marya’s other books and I enjoyed learning from them. It’s important to be open to read all types of books. I myself enjoy reading all types of books. I believe that’s how you grow as a person in knowledge being read or heard from audio. This book is out on June 1, 2011. Look for it at your local book store or online. Thank you so much Marya Hornbacher for the book!
Until next time, “Be The Conductor You Were Meant To Be In Your Life”
